Bariatric surgery is recognized as a surgical subspecialty by the American College of Surgeons and by the American Medical Association. It is a unique specialty. In order to meet standards of care and guidelines established by authorities, the bariatric patient requires more and different preparation, care, follow-up and support than other types of surgical patients. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), The American College of Surgeons (ACS), The Joint Commission Accrediting Hospital Organizations (JCAHO), The American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS), Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American Medical Association (AMA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and others have published guidelines/standards by which Bariatric Surgery Programs are judged.

Operating a multidisciplinary program increases the cost of weight loss surgery. Therefore, our program also includes a marketing and advertising plan to generate an appropriate volume. We also have developed plans that may increase profit margins.
